004/16/15 14:13 Basic Information: Midnight is a 2 year old unaltered american pit bull terrier. He has seen a vet regularly and he has no known injuries. The only health concern the owner had been that Midnight’s testicles have never dropped. The owner says that he likes how friendly Midnight is. Social Life and Personality: Midnight has been around children and dogs and he is relaxed and very exuberant during play with children and other dogs. He has been around cats and is very tolerant and respectful of cats. He is house trained and does not have accidents in the home. Behavior: The owner states that Midnight is extremely friendly and loves all people. Midnight is friendly when people take toys away, receives baths, is brushed, held, and when stranger approach his home or family. He is not bothered if people touch his food bowl when he is eating or people take away his bones. For a New Family to Know: Midnight is used to leashed walks three times a day. He likes to play with all kinds of toy but he ends to tear them apart. He likes to play games such as fetch, chase, wrestling, and tug. He is well behaved when left home alone. He is not bothered by loud noises such as storms or fireworks. He is used to eating Merrick dry dog food. He likes to sleep on the floor without anything soft. Intake Behavior: Midnight approached with a loose body and wagging tail. He jumped into the counselor’s lap and solicited attention. Midnight allowed handling and did not show any aggressive behaviors.

04/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Midnight Sky pulls on the leash and was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, licked hands and face. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. During engages in play, loose body, wags tail, mouth is open and he jumped up on the Assessor once moving ceased. He had no interested in food and minimal interest in toys and rawhide. Midnight Sky was surrendered to the shelter by a previous owner who described him as a friendly dog. The previous owner stated that he has been around children and dogs and he is relaxed and very exuberant during play with children and other dogs. He has been around cats and is very tolerant and respectful of cats. The owners also noted that he is house trained and is well behaved when left home alone. It was also reported that Midnight is not bothered when toys are away or touch his food bowl. During his assessment he remained loose and wiggly throughout. The Behavior Department believes Midnight Sky can go to an Average home that understands he is an active dog and can provide him with appropriate mental and physical stimulation. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play ceases. Squeeze 1:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Dog licks Assessor’s hand. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed or back. Food: No interest Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells and mouths, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells and mouths, then turns away. Dog-Dog: Midnight Sky rushes into the yard eager to greet another dog and once in the yard he is interested in socializing with other dogs. He solicits for play and plays a bit with a female.
04/19/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

When off leash with other dogs, Midnight Sky is playful and bouncy and offers multiple play bows in solicitation to another dog. He engages in rough and rowdy play. 4/21 Update Midnight Sky rushes into the yard eager to greet another dogs and once in the yard he is interested in socializing with other dogs. He solicits for play and plays a bit with a female. 4/22 Update Midnight Sky is social with other dogs but not interested in play 4/23 Update Midnight Sky enjoys some rough and rowdy play with a playful female.
