09/25/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mick came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Mick was calm and well behaved, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Mick came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and attention seeking towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Mick was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Mick was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Mick appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for a “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense, mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Mick greets politely and seems interested but does not engage in play. He may become sexually motivated but takes correction well.
09/24/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Mick greets other dogs politely and may engage in play when solicited. He can become sexually motivated with some dogs. Based on his behavior in playgroup, the Behavior Department recommends that Mick can go to a home with both male and female dogs. He seems to do well with non-playful dogs and while he does engage in play, we recommend he be placed with dogs with a gentle, less energetic play style. When off leash with other dogs, Mick greets politely and seems interested but does not engage in play. He may become sexually motivated but takes correction well. 9/25 update: Mick greets politley and is interested when solicited but does not engage in play. He attempts to mount both males and females. 9/26 update: Mick is social and will engage in running play when solicited. He is a bit sexually motivated but responds well to correction. 9/27 update: Mick is a bit sexually motivated but he responds well to correction. He will engage in running play when solicited. 9/30 update: Mick greets politely and may become sexually motivated but takes correction well. 10/1 update: Mick is social and greets other dogs politely.
