Yes Animal’s Name: Michelle WHY ARE YOU BRINGING THIS DOG IN? The adopter stated that he is returning the dog because his wife’s uncle had a heart attack and now there will be no one around to take care of Michelle. RELATIONSHIP Adopter has had Michelle for 2 days. PEOPLE Michelle was living with 2 adults. Does he get along with strangers? Adopter stated that Michelle was fine around strangers. That she is friendly and energetic Has he ever bitten anyone? No Describe his behavior: very active and energetic OTHER ANIMALS Michelle did not have any interactions with any other animals. PERSONALITY Loves to play, is very active Likes to be petted, hugged ect. HABITS Adopted was feeding Michelle dry food and wet food 2x per day. TRAINING Adopter stated Michelle pulls on the leash all the time and he was in the process aof attempting to house train Michelle. Is there anything else we should know? Michelle came to our center as a stray. She walked exuberantly with puppy enthusiasm during her relief walk. Michelle was hard to position for Look item, taking three attempts. But once settled, allowed her head to be cuped in assessor’s hands with eyes averted and body soft. Michelle joined in with the game of Tag enthusiastically, and settled quickly at end. She had no response to paw Squeeze. Michelle ceased eating and lifted her head at the approach of assess-a-hand during Food item. She had minimal interest in toy and rawhide. The Behavior Team feels Michelle would do best in an Average home. Her behaviors might improve with puppy obedience classes to each her bhow to positively direct her energy and also to learn basic manners. She might also benefit from enrichment toys such as Kongs or Nylabones as well. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push her out. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, licks, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells, licks, then turns away. Dog-to-dog: Dog is very eager to interact, she can be a little too pushy but appears to be calmer in a larger group.

When off leash with other dogs, Michelle is very anxious when greeted at the gate. She does not respond to correction from handler. 4/23 Update Michelle enjoys rough and rowdy play. She is very vocal when greeting and at play. 4/24 Update Michelle continues to enjoy rough and rowdy play, She tends to be hyper but will calm down when other dog relaxes. She is also beginning to respond to correction. 4/25 Update Michelle is very tolerant when greeted by other dogs. She tends to be quite vocal when she is playing but is also very respectful. 4/28 Update Michelle continues to enjoy rough and rowdy play. 4/29 Update Michelle enjoyed running around with another dog, she tends to vocally over correct and can be quite assertive. 4/30-5/1 Update Michelle continues to enjoy rough and rowdy play, she is very respectful and tolerant when greeted by male and female dogs. 5/2 Update Michelle continues to be very eager to interact, she can be a little too pushy but appears to be calmer in a larger group.
