03/15/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Mia was sleeping when I came for her. She was up in no time, ready for a walk and company. Her tail was wagging, her body softly wiggling and her eyes may be wondering…Who are you? My new friend? Mia pulls strongly on the leash but many dogs do so when they are not in their familiar premises. She eliminates as soon as we reach the yard. House trained as her owner related to us. Mia is a pretty mouse in a perfect grey dress. She has been well cared for and mostly played with. She loves her ball, runs and jumps for it and cajoles it between her paws and her mouth. Although she would like to keep her treasure, Mia does not guard it and runs immediately for another ball. She can sit on command and comes at the call of her name. She is a sweet gal who sits by my side, leans on my shoulder and accepts petting with very gentle eyes. Mia , given away because of the NYCHA ban, lived happily with a child and comes with excellent recommendations. She is a lively, friendly and playful gal who would make a wonderful forever best friend. Come and meet Mia at the Manhattan Care Center. She is waiting for you.
03/12/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mia pulls hard on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, wagging tail. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Mia was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Mia took the toy and rawhide away but had soft body language. She rushed in quickly during the dog-dog test, but showed no aggression. Mia was surrender to us. According to the previous owner she gets along with children and strangers. The family described her as a very friendly and playful dog. She did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1.
