A volunteer writes:
Meena wants to fly from her second storey kennel and I have to be quick to catch her as she leaps into my waiting arms, a beautiful bundle of sweet puppy love…or so I assume. But then I check her kennel card and it turns out little Meena is actually a grown-up 5 year old – who could have guessed?!! Playful, friendly and full of life, Meena has all the best traits (and adorable looks) of a bouncing baby and the notes left by her former owner confirm she’s an amazing family pet anyone would be lucky to call their own. She lived in a full house with 5 human siblings (aged 7-19), 5 dogs of varying sizes, cats, hamsters and a guinea pig and got along well with all of them, though her favorite person was the Autistic 7-year-old. They grew up side by side and wherever her BFF went, gentle Meena was never far behind, even at bed time. She’s relaxed and tolerant of other pups at the dog park and if a rowdy male is bothering her she simply corrects him with a bark – you go girl! Meena knows commands for sit (demonstrated very nicely for me), down, stay and come (‘here’), she mouths treats gently from my hand or catches them on the fly, likes to play with balls, is a good harness walker and seems to be very house trained too. When asked what Meena’s favorite activities were her owner told us she enjoys relaxing with family, playing with the kids in their paddling pool and ‘having her cheeks rubbed’! I could go on for days about all the wonderful gifts Meena will bring to her new family’s life but by now I imagine you’re already halfway out the door and hurrying in to meet her for yourself! Spayed and ready to go home immediately, Meena is the playful, affectionate and beautiful family dog you’ve always dreamed of and she just can’t wait to meet you. This little cutie has a heart full of love and there’s room enough for everyone – come and get your share today!
