Upon intake dog displayed tense body language (shakey body, head low, tail tucked.). When trying to scan dog for microchip he began to growl at an admissions counselor. He allowed to collared and scanned by his finder.

SAFER: EXPERIENCED HOME, NO CHILDREN

Upon intake it was reported that Maximo had tense body language and growled at the admissions counselor, but did allow handling and did not escalate. When entering the behavior room Maximo was observed having very stiff body language and displayed some avoidance behaviors. He initially would not allow the assessor to come within a close distance of him, but with some time became a little more comfortable within the assessor’s presence. He allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items but had very stiff body language throughout all. Due to this behavior the behavior department believes that Maximo would be best placed in an experienced home with no children. Maximo displayed no interest in any of the resource items at time of assessment. When interacting with Maximo one must approach Maximo very slowly and give him time to acclimate to his environment and move at his own pace.
