10/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Maxie came in as an owner surrender, but there was no information giving at the moment. At intake it was reported Maxie was nervous but she responds well with a soft voice and relaxed body posture with a slow approach, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Maxie came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly, social and attention seeking towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Maxie joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment on food and toy items she showed minimal interest and rawhide item she growled when attempting to remove the item away. Due to some concerns on rawhide item the behavior department feels it’s best she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog licks, then turn away. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 4. Dog freezes and growls. dog-dog: Maxie greets the helper dog with a loose, bouncy playful body at first. She becomes aroused when play escalates, displaying raised hackles and her body becomes stiff.

A staff member writes: Maxie has those eyes that just make you want to know more. Maxie was an owner surrender, with little detail as to why. Maxie was very friendly to her accessor during her behavior evaluation, however, did show some resource guarding tendencies. Maxie would do best in a home with an experienced owner who can work with her on behavior. Won’t you be the one that helps Maxie learn all she can?
