Max is a sweet dog that has been in our shelter twice! He was brought in as a stray in August and then adopted out in September. Max thought he was going to his forever home, but his owner moved to a no-pet apartment and could no longer care for Max. He was returned to us in November and is now looking for help to find a home. He is a great dog – he received an AVERAGE on his SAFER.

Max pulls very hard on the leash during his relief walk. He was sociable, but more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. Max was focused on the door making several attempts to exit in-between items during handling, and need a great deal of coaxing to be positioned. During the tag interaction he was distracted and focused on objects in the room rather than the handler. Max did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He showed no interest in toys or rawhides, and rushed in quickly during the dog-dog test, but showed no aggression.
Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
