In the kennel Max barks and lunges when approached at the kennel, but he is easily removed and walks calmly on leash. When collaring was attempted Max became uncomfortable and rolled on his back while lip curling. Due to this behavior and to avoid further stress for max no handling items were attempted at this time. During the resources portion of the assessment Max growled when pushed out of the food bowl, but did not escalate to snapping or a bite. He was not interested in the toys or rawhide items, and when approaching the helper dog, Max was relaxed, but did not appear interested in interacting. Max does appear to be receptive to treats and will take them gently from a handler’s hand, but remained intolerant of petting.
