11/27/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Masters is about as big as a miniature horse, as wiggly as a puppy, and sweeter than pie! I fell in love with him before even taking him out; there he was, lying on his bed, a little dirty and super handsome, wagging his back end whenever I would look his way and even offering his paw! He pulls some on the leash, but definitely not with all of his strength. I insist every staff member we encounter meet him and he charms them all with his goofy, mushy way. He seems housebroken, is very food motivated and will sit for treats (his tail a blur behind him). The paw he offered me from his cage was just a sneak preview — he’ll give either one, both at once, and even sort of rear up like a horse as if he’s going for a double hi-five! When I bring him in the yard he does his share of exploring, but often looks my way and joins me. He nearly hits himself with his tail and will lick my hand when I pet him. He’s almost always smiling and it’s impossible not to join him! This dreamboat is ready to sail away from Brooklyn ACC and into a home – come meet Masters today!
11/24/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Masters came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Masters was curious but had loose body posture, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Masters came into the assessment loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Masters was distracted but not fearful during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Masters was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Masters appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds.
