11/14/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Bouncy, playful, and friendly, Mask is happy to be out for some fresh air and play time. She potties right away so is likely housetrained and pulls on the leash in her excitement to be out. Tossing around a squeaky toy off leash in a pen, she’s able to amuse herself for quite some time, with quick side trips to the gate to play bow to a dog in an adjoining pen. Mask has a sweet lively energy, gives paw and never stops wagging her tail. Watching her play, tossing the toy for her, you can’t help but laugh at how good a time she is having. Bringing it into my lap for a game of tug, she never guards it. If you’re ready to wake up every day with a smile, than Mask is the dog to ensure that happens. Fun and loving, with a lively sweet energy, Mask is hoping to have her dreams come true. The dream of a forever family to cherish. Let’s make it happen.
11/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mask pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Mask was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Mask was not interested in toys. Mask appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1. No interest.
