Marty was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling and lunges at the rope. He did not show any social behavior. During the behavior assessment Martin stands tall and makes direct eye contact. He was growling; expose his front teeth, and preparing to lunge forward to the handler. We behavior team decided to place him back in his kennel he was difficult to handle.
Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Marty is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER. Marty did not allow any touch or handling during his medical exam behavior he was also intolerant of handling growling, and tried to bite. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
