05/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Martini came to our center on 5/3/2015 after it was reported she was found wandering inside a building. Upon police arrival, she was growling at officers so she was tranquilized. Martini walked nervously on leash with tail down. She was uncomfortable during Look item, giving whale eye and then attempting to bite, discontinuing other tactile handling portions of the SAFER assessment and continuing to resources. Martini had minimal interest in food and no interest in toy. She had no interest in rawhide initially, but once engaged she growled and snapped at the assess-a-hand. Martini had tense body during dog-to-dog, lip licking with ears forward and tail at spine level, approaching slowly. Due to her attempts to attempts to bite, Martini must only be placed with a New Hope partner. Her behaviors may improve in a calm setting where she is the only dog, . The Behavior Team does not recomment giving treats that take a long time to consume, such as rawhide or kongs, due to her potential for guarding behaviors. Look: 5. Dog growls and tries to bite. Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog smells, then turns away. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 5. Dog attempts to bite. Dog-dog: 3. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with her tail neutral, tense body, lip lick, and ears erect.
