07/31/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Marley came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake Marley appeared to be very docile he enjoyed giving kisses and allowed all handling. During SAFER Marley came into the assessment room loose and wiggly with his mouth open, he was very friendly, social and attention seeking towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Marley was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Marley was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Marley appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Marley greets the other dog politely, is tolerant of interaction but spends most of his time exploring his surroundings.
