04/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Marabi previously lived with two adults and has been around children. She was reported to be relaxed and playful towards everyone her household and who she meets. The owner best described Marabi as very playful and energetic, with an activity level that was said to be very high. It was noted that she isn’t bothered when someone touches her food bowl while eating, and enjoys taking baths and being groomed. It was also noted that Marabi is successfully housebroken At intake Marabi was reported to be exuberant, and had a loose body allowing all handling and collaring by an Admissions Counselor. During SAFER Marabi was excitable, and consistently jumped on the assessor, but she was sociable and her body was loose. She allowed all handling without issue, and did become a bit over aroused at the end of the tag interaction; jumping on the assessor, but her body was loose. Marabi did show some concerns during the resources portion of the assessment; Biting the assess-a-hand when the food and toys were being removed, and she kept a firm hold on the rawhide, while moving away from the assessor with stiff body language. Although no guarding behaviors were seen in the previous home, Marabi did show some concerns during SAFER, so placement with a New Hope partner is recommended so the behaviors displayed can be more fully explored before placing into a permanent home. Look: 1. Dog leans forward to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with loose body and dog licks hands while lips are long. Tag: 2. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Dog becomes a bit over aroused and jumps on assessor of the end of the game. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: 5. Dog bites assess-a-hand.
