Exam Type BEHAVIOR
On 4/6/2015 Magic came to us as owner surrendered. According to the owner Magic gets along with cats, but does not get along with other dogs and has a human and animal bite history; no timeline noted. The owner further claims Magic guards bones and rawhide. The Assistant’s observations: friendly exiting the kennel and walks well on leash to the assessment area. During the assessment Magic appeared friendly. He allowed the Assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items and accepted handling very well. When pushed away by the assess-a-hand Magic lifted his head from the food bowl. He showed minimal interest for toys and a rawhide. During the dog-dog assessment items, Magic did appear alert, ears forward, tail above spine level but soft bodied. No other behavior issues; no aggression noted. Although Magic performed very well on the assessment, claims of reactive behavior by the former owner must be considered.
