11/14/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Some dogs wag their tails hello, others sit and shake paw, others wiggle, and our Miss Madeline flops right over for a belly rub – that’s her ‘how do you do!’. So cute…..With her cute belly inviting some rubbing, she’ll lie there as long as there are people to pet her. Smart girl! She’s a gorgeous, petite, caramel colored pup, with stunning matching eyes who comes when called, is happy giving some kisses and takes treats gently. She pulls slightly on the leash which may be a bit of anxiety right now, and seems to be housetrained using the “facilities” as soon as we were out the door. Madeline’s face is stunning, her cheekbones finely chiseled like those of a top fashion model. Gorgeous! Her sweet hugs, soft kisses and gentle manner all speak to a little girl who is nicely socialized with people and is looking for a new person to love. In her first group Maddie (we’re friends now so I can use a nickname) played nicely with a male her own size. Maddie can be a bit shy at first but warms up quickly and is happy to make new friends. You can friend request her and she’ll happily accept. She’s waiting for you to do just that!
11/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Madeline walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Madeline had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. She was not interested in toys. Madeline did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy 1: No interest. When off leash with other dogs, Madeline greets politely and engages in gentle play.
11/13/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Madeline initially displays assertive behavior, vocalizing, rushing into the pen and standing over the other dog. She becomes frustrated and vocalizes if she is not able to be introduced immediately. Once introduced, Madeline eventually solicits and engages in pushy play. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before placement into a home with another dog. When off leash with other dogs, Madeline greets politely and engages in gentle play. 11/14 update: Madeline is forward and may initially stand over the other dog and growl. She will then solicit and engage in running play. She offers correction for mounting. 11/17: Madeline continues to display this behavior. 11/18: Madeline is pushy and assertive during play.
