06/25/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
Basic Information Mack is a 4 year old neutered brindle Lab/Cane Corso mix who came into ACC as an owner surrender due to his high activity levels. The onwer found Mack when he was about 8 months old and has been caring for him since. Mack was last at the vet in May, where he received all of his updated shots. Mack does not have health problems. Socialization Mack has been around adults, children, and other dogs. He is friendly, relaxed, and playful with all others. His owner notes that even when children poke and pull at him, he is tolerant. Additionally, when other dogs have become more aggressive and/or rough in their play with him, Mack quickly avoids a fight and retreats back to his owner. Behavior Mack is mostly a well-behaved dog but has a tendency to escape his owner’s home. He will do this at least once a month and the owner beleives it is due to anxiety. Mack has never liked loud noises, often exihibiting hypervigilance and fear. When he is home alone for long periods of time and faced with anxiety provoking stimuli, Mack will flee. He returns home immediately, often waiting at the door for him owner. Mack is house-trained and never has accidents. He will let you know when he needs to go through a gentle paw tap or head nudge. The owner attempted crate training, but was unsuccessful as Mack always finds a way to get out of his cage. He is friendly during all handling, enjoying baths and grooming. For A New Family to Know Mack is described as a “100 pound lap dog” who loves to snuggle, swim, and run. Despite his large stature, Mack’s favorite thing to do is being held like a baby by his owner. He has a high activity level, necessitating frequent runs. When off the leash, he stays by his owner’s side. He likes to play with balls and hard rubber toys, loving to play fetch and catch. Mack knows many commands including sit, come, lay, and paw. He eats two cups of Blue Buffalo hard food twice a day. Mack likes to sleep in bed with his owner but can also nap in his own dog bed. He would do well in a home where he can get lots of attention for his high energy, as well as affection. The owner definintely beleives he will fit well in a home with children. Behavior During Intake Mack was calm and cooperative during the intake process but became very hesitatnt when attempting to go into the kennel. Instead of jumping in the kennel, he initiated play with his owner. He allowed collaring and scanning.
