Helper dog: A1057469 Luna previously lived with two adults and four small children. The owner stated Luna is playful and very tolerant. The owner mentioned that his small children would jump on Luna and pull on her tail and ears and she was very tolerant and never snapped. It was reported by the owner Luna is reactive towards cats and she will bark and chase after them. The owner stated Luna is housetrained; crate trained and has a high activity level. At intake it was reported Luna was tense and nervous, she did allow all handling. During SAFER Luna came into the assessment room nervous and tense, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Luna lip raised at the assessor on the Look item. She displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Luna growls, lunges and bare teeth towards the helper dog. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog freezes and/or growls or tries to bite. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 4. Dog charges the helper dog while growling and baring teeth.
