05/31/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/31/15 11:28 Ludwig A1038176 is a young grey male AMPT who was found in a park in the bronx last night and the finder took him home for the night to then bring him into our BXAC once we were open. The finder stated Ludwig tried to play with and be friends with the resident pitbull but he didn’t like Ludwig. Ludwig slept in bed with one of the teens in the home but prefered to play in bed instead of let them sleep. He ate wet & dry food and appeared to be house trained but did have one accident in the home during his brief stay. The finder stated Ludwig is very sweet and affectionate with high energy. During intake Ludwig had a loose wiggly body with an opened mouth and waggy tail. He allowed us to scan (neg.), collar & take his pictures.

A volunteer writes: “I’m singing in the rain, just singing in the rain…” And yes I was, because I was huddled in a doorway with a gorgeous, sweet dog laying across my lap. Ludwig!! An old fashioned name for a young, soulful snuggler!! Starting my day with this awesome dog set the tone despite the weather. Great leash manners, likely housetrained, stand up hugs and kisses, and our walk went like this: step, step, hug, step, hug, step, step, step, hug — and repeat 🙂 His tail wags as we walk, and while he can sometimes be a bit mouthy as we play (no pressure), he is respectful and gentle. Already used as a HELPER DOG to asses incoming dogs, he’s achieved rockstar status by acing his own behavior assessment. He’s a bit too thin in my opinion, and better nutrition will help his coat gleam, but that’s all cosmetic and an easy fix. As we walked back to the shelter we met a small Chihuahua in a pink raincoat and Ludwig was gently solicitous, wagging his tail in a quiet hello to this vision in pink. In the yard, he sat close to me as I took some notes, happy to snuggle more, take a treat gently and then spit it out equally gently when it wasn’t to his liking. Ludwig is looking for a lifetime snuggle partner, nutritious food and a happy home. His behavior assessment indicates he’ll be a good fit with most families, are you the lucky one?
06/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ludwig pulls a bit on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Ludwig was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Ludwig took the toy and rawhide away but had soft body language. Ludwig was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Ludwig did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2.
