12/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lucks previously lived with 6 adults and toddlers ages 1 and 2 years old. The owner stated Lucks is relaxed, playful and tolerant towards everyone in the household. The owner mentioned Lucks is house-trained, has a high activity level and well behaved when home alone. The owner describes Lucks as confident, anxious, independent and friendly. It was reported by the owner Lucks nips but never puncture, but will nip when being picked up to take a bath. The owner stated Lucks is afraid of taking baths and will growl and snap. At intake it was reported Lucks was anxious and whining but remained with soft body posture. He growled when being picked up but allowed all handling. During SAFER Lucks came into the assessment room whining and barking, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Lucks growled at the assessor on tag item. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 5. Dog growls. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Lucks greets the other dogs appropriately but spends most of the time exploring his surroundings.
