A volunteer writes: They say the best things come in small packages, and lovely little Lucie is the best of the best! Whenever I walk by, she props her paws on her cage wall and peeks over – her wide set, pleading eyes are truly a force to be reckoned with. As soon as I start to slip my leash on her she nuzzles my hand and solicits petting. She wags her tail throughout our time together (with a brief intermission when she puts the brakes on to avoid going back inside). Lucie walks beautifully on leash and has even been used to help train new volunteers. Her former owner let us know that she is playful, relaxed and respectful of little humans (she lived with a 1 year old and 3 year old), but is not a fan of little dogs. In playgroup with dogs her own size (mostly larger – Lucie is an itty bitty pittie!) she was a bit of a wallflower at first, but is becoming more comfortable and social. She seems to have housetraining and is very treat motivated. When I bring her in the yard she parades around with a squeaky toy and politely greets the dog in the adjacent pen, but is constantly checking in with me and seems so happy to have company. She is quick to hop up next to me on the bench, content to just sit at my side, or if I invite her, she’ll crawl into my lap and diligently lick my face – she is such a sweetheart! Please come meet her at Brooklyn ACC!
