08/05/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lucario came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. During SAFER Lucario came into the assessment room with high energy loose and wiggly, he was friendly towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Lucario was distracted during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Lucario was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Lucario appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy, so the behavior department feels Lucario can be suitable for an experience adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog licks, then turns away. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy or rawhide, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness.
