06/25/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Pretty little Louboutin may officially be all grown up but she’s still a delightful puppy at heart and her main focus in life is to share as many kisses, cuddles and butt wiggles as possible. She loves getting out and about, is a fantastic fetcher who lets me take the ball right from her mouth and she’s always more than happy to crawl up on my lap for quiet time. Of course, she can’t resist the lure of chin kisses for long and soon I’m being treated to a full-on face bath! Other dogs are met with friendly tail wags and a soft body and while she pulls a bit on leash, no one is more responsive to her person than Loubie (oh yes, we’re on lovey-dovey nickname terms!) and she always turns her sweet face back instantly at the sound of my voice. Seemingly house trained and a star in doggie playgroup, beloved by staff and absolutely adorable, darling Loubie is impossible to resist! Did I mention she also totally rocked her behavior assessment and would be a great fit for almost any home? Don’t miss your chance to take home a lifetime of fun and snuggles…Louboutin is already spayed and ready to leap out of your dreams and into your arms today!
06/07/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Louboutin was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, licked hands and face. She was loose and wiggly throughout handling items. She was distracted and focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag interaction and began to play tug-o-war with the leash toward the end of the game; she took a minute to settle down. She had minimal interest in food, but engaged with both the toy and rawhide, keeping a firm grip on both with a loose, wiggly body. Louboutin was brought to the care center as a stray; upon intake, she would initially retreat from extended hand and attempt to hide behind the officers that brought her in, after a few minutes she warmed up to handling was initially stiff but loosened up and would approach with a loose, wiggly body. Throughout the assessment, Louboutin remained friendly toward the assessor. The Behavior Department believes Louboutin can go to an average home and will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for her energy. She would also benefit from obedience classes to positively modify her leash biting and pulling. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. She plays tug-o-war with the leash. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Food 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells and licks, then walks away. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Rawhide 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the rawhide.
