I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 09/01/2015 from NY 11229, owner surrender reason stated was PET HEALTH.

09/01/15 17:27 Basic Information: Lola is a 5 year old unaltered German Short Point mix. Owner stated he brought Lola from a breeder 5 years ago. Lola has a tumor that is located on her stomach. Owner surrenders Lola because of pet health and his children. Social Life and Personality: Lola lived with 2 adults and children ages 2, 4, and 6. Owner stated Lola is playful and relaxed towards everyone in the household. Owner stated Lola lived with another German Short Point and they were playful towards each other. Lola behavior is unknown towards cats. Lola is mostly outdoors and activity level is between medium and high owner stated. Owner describes Lola as playful, affectionate, and friendly. Behavior Issues: Lola has never bitten or scratched anyone to owner knowledge. She barks too much especially if she is in a crate. She doesn’t resource guard her food, toys, or treats. Lola loves to take baths and swim in a pool. She goes to the vet for nails trimmed and to be groomed. She isn’t bothered if unfamiliar people approach the house or family. For a New Family to Know: Lola is trained to use the bathroom outdoors. She goes for walks twice a day or a leash owner stated. Lola will play with any toys the children give her especially balls. She likes to follow and run around with owner in the house. When Lola is alone in the yard she is well behaved. Lola is crate-trained and does well when home alone. He eats dry food called Old Ray. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Lola was anxious and loose body. She scanned positive for a microchip and allowed all handling.

Helper Dog: A1048716 Lola previously lived with 2 adults and children ages 2, 4, and 6. The owner stated Lola is playful and relaxed towards everyone in the household. The owner mentioned Lola lived with another dog and they were playful towards each other. The owner stated Lola is house trained, crate trained well behaved when home alone and she has a medium to high activity level. The owner describes Lola as playful, affectionate, and friendly. At intake Lola was anxious but had loose body posture, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Lola came into the assessment room friendly, loose and wiggly, she was friendly and playful towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Lola was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Lola was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Lola appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
