05/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lola was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag, but was easily distracted by other stimuli in the room. She repeatedly engaged in movement unrelated to the Assessor between items and attempts during the squeeze item. She engages in play, loose body, wags tail, mouth is open and lightly jumps up on the Assessor once play begins. Lola did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. She kept a firm grip on the toy with a loose, wiggly body and had no interest in rawhide. Upon intake, Lola was friendly and easy to handle. Throughout the assessment, Lola was friendly toward the Assessor but was easily distracted and did display a high activity level. The Behavior Department believes Lola can go to an average home that understands she may benefit from daily exercise and obedience classes. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed or back. Food 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push her out. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Lola politely greets another dog at the gate and will wander the yard with another dog. She will solicit for play with play bows and bouncy movements.
