09/30/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lok Lok was brought to our center as an owner surrender. Not much information was given other than he has not been around cats but is gentle, playful, and friendly around other dogs and children. During intake, Lok Lok was friendly and allowed all handling, wagging his tail and licking admissions counselor’s face. He walked very slowly for his relief walk, no pulling. Lok Lok allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body relaxed and neutral. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity, body relaxed and neutral, ears and tail neutral. He was unresponsive and distracted during Tag game, settling easily at end. Lok Lok did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He growled when attempting to push his cheek out of the Food bowl. Lok Lok had no interest in Toy or Rawhide. He approached the helper dog with his head down, from the side, and then exited. Lok Lok was calm and tolerant throughout entire assessment except for possible possessiveness displayed regarding Food. The Behavior Team feels Lok Lok would do best with an Experienced adopter that does not have very young children. Older children should have an in-depth interaction before considering adoption. He may do best initially entering a calm, quiet, structured environment so he can relax and know what to expect in his new home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his ears and tail are in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor. He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 4. Dog growls. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches head low, body to side in relation to other dog, then exits.
