07/14/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
The dog was a bit nervous and submissive upon arrival. She rolled on the floor soliciting attention, when the super tried to pet her, she crouched and acted a bit cautious. She was difficult to put in the van but allow 2 people to pick her up and put inside the van with fearful language.
07/26/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Lilith came to us as her owner was evicted..Nothing is known about her except that she was cared for quite outstandingly. Her world was turned up side down…Lilith has calmed down a lot and is quite a likeable female. She is beautiful, shepherdy like, dressed in a thick and well groomed cream coat. She owns the greatest smile. She is well nourished, healthy beside a little cold and walks majestically by my side. She might be housetrained and relieves herself as soon as she is out in the street. She is a bit shy but realizes quickly that I am a friend. She comes when I call her, tail gently wagging and gives me her head to pet. She sits on command. Lilith loves to play ball and to cajole it between her paws. She even takes one back to her kennel, may be for comfort. She likes food that she takes politely from my hand. Her behavioral evaluation points to some guarding tendencies and some discomfort with other dogs during playgroup time. Lilith is a gorgeous Shepherd mix who used to live with another male dog. Who she truly is…we will never know…What we see here at the care center is just like make up, an impression of what could be and might not be…What I am impressed with is her improvement from the time she was admitted to the care center…I want to be optimistic and believe that in the right and loving hands, Lilith might be an awesome, loyal and loving forever best friend. She is at the Manhattan Care Center, dreaming of a wonderful life…with you
07/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lilith pulls a bit on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, wagging tail. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Lilith was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She showed some concerning behavior during the food bowl test – stiffening and growling, but did not snap at or bite the assess-a-hand. Lilith was not interested in toys or rawhide. Lilith may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this food guarding behavior. In addition to food behavior modification protocol we recommend teaching Lilith “Drop It” and trade-up games. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest When off leash with other dogs, Lilith is anxious, greets the other dog appropriately and will chase and vocalize toward the other dog when the other dog becomes playful.
07/15/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs, Lilith is anxious, greets the other dog appropriately and will chase and vocalize toward the other dog when the other dog becomes playful. 7/21 update: Lilith is anxious, greets the other dog politely and offers appropriate corrections. 7/22 update: Lilith is solicitous and will engage in brief bouts of play. She will over react to a sexually motivated male when offering correction. 7/24-25 update: Lilith allows greeting but maintains a stiff body throughout the interaction.
