09/01/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Leylani and Wisdom, two well brought up and lovely elderly dogs, are with us as their family, counting many young children, could not care for their pets anymore. Leylani is quite perky and does not look at all her age. Some faint silvery glitter can be seen on her muzzle, she owns nice teeth, and there is just a hint of cloudiness in her eyes. She is truly in mint condition.Twelve years old… really ? Leylani is quite a pretty, feminine and elegant damsel with lively eyes and ready to jump like a deer out of her upper kennel. She walks gingerly by my side and relieves herself at once as soon as we are out of the building. She can sit and jump for treats. She really loves to eat. Leylani strolls nicely around the block, she is collected and definitively would be a wonderful candidate for a person who wants a calm while still lively pet companion. Leylani, like Wisdom , comes with stellar recommendations from her former owners. She seems like the perfect family dog who could, in the fantastic shape she is, give a lot of good years to a loving new owner. Older dogs like puppies are not for everybody. It takes a certain state of mind, a giving disposition and the understanding that quality time and not quantity time is what really matters for both dog and master. Leylani is at the Manhattan Care Center.
