12/09/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/09/15 02:10 Lestat was picked up as a stray by the police while he was wandering down the street. During intake he showed a loose body and wagging tail. Very curious of the new surroundings. walked well on leash. Police had fed him chicken and corn bread before intake which he really enjoyed and took from them gently.
12/16/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Wagging his tail in his kennel Lestat let it be known he was ready for a walk. He’s a handsome fellow with chiseled cheekbones and a perfect physique. Going potty as soon as we were out the door shows off his housetraining skills, and he then shows off lovely leash manners too! He’s quiet and sweet, sitting when I ask him to for a treat and taking it gently. For those of you following Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, you know that Lestat is the vampire hero who was an aristocrat in his former life. Our Lestat is certainly aristocratic, just look at that handsome face! When I passed by his kennel later in the day he wagged his tail in recognition and was ready for another walk. Easy peasy, Lestat is ready to meet his hero and begin his happily ever after….. Another volunteer writes: Lestat should be nicknamed Batman for his ears. He is a well mannered dog that walks very well on the leash. He peed as soon as we exited the building, indicating he’s most likely house-trained. Lestat was found by police who fed him chicken and corn bread, which he took gently from them. This cutie with bat ears is a calm and gentle dog. He is waiting for a human to call his own.
12/12/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper: 1059524 Lestat came to us as a stray on 12/10/15. He was very interested in exploring the behavior room before the start of the assessment. He allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items without displaying any signs of aggression. Lestat did become a bit uncomfortable and did start stress panting during the sensitivity test. He proved easy to handle when chewing on the toy item, and kept a firm grip when the assessor attempted to take it away. When approaching the helper dog on an on leash dog interaction, he approached with confident and slightly tense body langauge. The behavior department believes that Lestat can go to an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item, stress panting near end of assessment. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needs coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches the helper dog, body a bit tense, tail well above spine level, ears forward.
12/12/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Lestat approaches to greet the helper dog through the fence standing tall and with a high, wagging tail. He will begin to whine when he does not enter the pen. Due to his injuries Lestat is not introduced, but does show interest in greeting both male and female dogs.
