06/17/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/17/15 17:47 Leopold and Huxley were found running outside in the street. Their finders tied lanyards around their necks and walked them here. She let them loose upon entering and they walked around the lobby, walking up to people with soft bodies and wagging tails. Huxley had a soft body and wagging tail during handling-scan (-), collar, pictures, petting, switching leashes, putting in kennel. She usually had her mouth open. She rolled onto her back often while we pet her, closing her eyes. She allowed me to pick her up and put her in her kennel. Leopold had a low body and was a little tense but allowed all handling-scan (-), collar, pictures, petting, switching leashes, putting in kennel. She got into her kennel on her own.

06/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Leopold was very fearful and took a lot of coaxing to get her to approach the assessor. She allowed for all handling to be completed but her body remained tense and fearful throughout. She remained fearful throughout tag and spun away from the assessor’s touch with a tucked tail and low, fearful body. She did not resist being handled while eating, and ceased eating each time the assessor reached for the food bowl. Leopold had no interest in toys or rawhide. Leopold was brought to the care center as a stray; upon intake she had a low, tense body but allowed for all handling to be completed without issue. During the assessment, Leopold remained cautious and fearful. The Behavior Department recommends Leopold go to an experienced home with no young children and advises that future adopters should be able to provide positive experiences for Leopold. In addition, we recommend she be given time to acclimate to new environments at her own pace and that introductions are done slowly, and Leopold be given the opportunity to interact at her own pace. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 3. Dog repeatedly turns quickly away when touched, and repeatedly tries to exit. Dog is crouching, tail is tucked, mouth closed, body a bit stiff and fearful. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push her out. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog-Dog: When off leash with other dogs Leopold is initially nervous but becomes more comfortable and will approach other dogs for greeting. She will offer appropriate correction when approached from behind.
