Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lanna was surrendered to our center with no additional information given. She was nervous upon inake but allowed scanning and collaring. Lanna attempted to bite assistant while coming out of kennel, and walked into SAFER assessment room with low body. She did not warm up to assessor and would not approach while coaxed. Lanna stood frozen, licking lips, whale eye, and would not come closer than 1 foot away from assessor so tactile portions of assessment were bypassed. During Food item, Lanna calmly allowed the bowl to move away while she was eating, and she lifted her head, ceasing eating when approached by assess-a-hand. She had no interest in Toy or rawhide. Lanna approached the helper dog with a low body, ears back, tail low. Due to her attempts to bite, Lanna must be placed with a New Hope partner, where she can approach at her own pace and warm up to her new environment. Look: 5. Dog freezes, lip lick. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 1. Dog approaches the helper dog submissively (head low, tail low, ears back, lip long).
