10/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lala came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. During SAFER Lala came into the assessment room anxious with her mouth open, she was not interest with the assessor, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Lala lip curled at the assessor on sensitivity item. During the resources portion of the assessment on food item she freezes and growls when attempting to remove her head out of the food bowl, on toy item she bites the assess-a-hand when attempting to remove the item and rawhide item she takes away with stiff body language. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 5. Dog freezes and lip curls. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy: 5. Dog bites the assess-a-hand. Rawhide: 3. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is stiff. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Lala is nervous and avoids interacting with other dogs. She will bark if she becomes overwhelmed or a dog approaches her too quickly.
