05/11/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
Lacy (A1035916) is a 9yr old (will be 10yrs old in Dec.) spayed German Shepherd. Lacy was purchased from a woman who was selling puppies outside 9yrs ago and is being surrendered today due to the owner having medical issues and is no longer able to care for her. Lacy has no known health issues/injuries but hasn’t been to a vet in a while. Lacy is friendly and protective of her family or people she gets to know and likes. Her play style with adults is gentle. Lacy hasn’t interacted with children or other Dogs, she will bark/growl at Cats she sees. Lacy has never bitten/scratched any person or animal. When her owner initially leaves the home Lacy will bark but once her owner tells her “I’ll be back” Lacy tends to calm down. During storms/fireworks Lacy isn’t bothered the owner stated “she’s a Bronx chick, she’s tough”. If the owner moves Lacy’s food/food bowl Lacy will give him a “Are you crazy” look but doesn’t react, same with her toys/treats. Lacy enjoys bathtime and being brushed. Her nails haven’t been trimmed so her behavior is unknown. Lacy isn’t bothered if her owner disturbs her while she’s sleeping/resting. Lacy will growl/bark if someone unfamiliar approaches her home or owner. Lacy is described as friendly, affectionate, playful (at times), confident, mellow & independent (at times). Lacy’s activity level is described as very high she likes to run. Lacy will follow her owner around if she thinks he’s leaving the home. Lacy enjoys ball toys and a game of fetch. The owner believes Lacy would do good in a home with a large yard and older teens to love, care & play with her properly. Lacy sleeps in her crate in her own room or on the floor, as a youngster her owner purchased a dog bed and she destroyed it. Lacy eats Big Red dry & wet food mixed together, her favorite treats are “everything except milk bones”. Lacy is very housetrained and never has accidents indoors. Lacy was put in her crate when “she did something she wasn’t supposed to..as punishment” for a few hours. Lacy’s known commands are “sit” & “wait” (to cross the street). For exercise Lacy used to be walked for a little over an hour but since becoming sick her owner walked her for about 20-30mins. Lacy doesn’t pull on the leash, she stays by her owners’ side and “goes” on grass or cement. Lacy was calm. She had a loose body, open mouth & wagged her tail while being given treats. Lacy allowed to be scanned (neg.), collared & taken pictures of like a beauty queen.
05/12/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Kate Middleton’s got nothing around here compared to our visiting royalty, Lacy. WOW what a dog! A nine year old surrendered by her ill owner, Lacey is jaw-droppingly generous, goofy (with a tennis ball), elegant (whenever she doesn’t have a tennis ball), gorgeous, spritely, apparently house trained, amazing on a leash, great with other dogs, possessing of a great sense of humor, energetic, playful, patient…please, feel free to add in any adjectives you like to describe an ideal canine companion as you make your way down here to swoop her up! Be prepared to push past the paparazzi, but all great things come with sacrifices.

Lacy walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, wagging tail. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Lacy was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl.
