KOVU – A1031252
Safe 5-1-2015 Brooklyn Rescue: Rebound Hounds Please honor your pledges: http://www.reboundhounds.org/donate.html
**KOVU is available for adoption!**PUPPY ALERT! Less than a year old, Kovu is sitting in a cage 24 x 7 at Brooklyn ACC hoping against hope that somebody notices him. ACC has noticed and put him on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. A good boy when he got there, he had some bumps and bruises but Kovu is already neutered and chipped so he’s ready to go in a flash. Tonight, this baby is looking for that special person out there who has the time and patience to teach him all those things a puppy needs to learn, to take him for long walks and playtime in the yard or the doggie park, to laugh and cry all at once like all puppy owners do, and to have a very best bff for years to come, start working on fostering or adopting Kovu. But it has to be tonight—at noon tomorrow, ACC will make sure Kovu wont be anywhere to celebrate his very first birthday!

04/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Update 4/66/15 Kovu is showing concerning behavior when returning to his kennel. While walking through the shelter to return to his kennel he will begin to tug and bite up the rope. When returning to his kennel, he will turn and lunge at the handler. He will also tug at the rope once back in his kennel and does not relinquish it. When outside walking or in the yard, Kovu continues to be sociable with people. Given Kovu’s low threshold for arousal, the behavior department feels he is best suited for an experienced adopter. SAFER 4/2/15 Kuvo came in as an owner surrender with limited information due to only owning Kuvo for several days. Upon intake it was noted that Kuvo was loose and receptive to introduction, and allowed all handling. He was also reported to be insistent on leash but walked well and was responsive to guidance. During SAFER Kuvo was sociable, and allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue. He was relaxed during the tag item, and was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but lifted his head when a bit of pressure was applied to his cheek, and he was easy to handle when engaged with the toys and rawhide items. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. His body is between you and the toy or rawhide, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Kovu is a vocal play and is forward and assertive in his attempts to play. He will offer play bows to another dog and actively try and initiate play.
