07/21/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: When asked what kind of home would be best for Kong, his former owner replied, “Caring and considerate and able to keep up with his care and walk him a lot.” Kong is an awesome dog, surrendered due to NYCHA weight restrictions and it’s clear from spending time with Kong that he was loved and well cared for. We’re told that Kong gets along with kids and all people, loves to go on runs, loves to play, and is super friendly. Kong lived with a cat who simply avoided him, he knows ‘sit’, ‘lie down’, ‘give paw’, and is housebroken (which he demonstrated as soon as we were out the door). Compact and well groomed, Kong wags his tail as we walk, showing off lovely leash manners and is responsive to his person on the other end of the leash. He wanted to meet all the dogs we passed, wagging his tail in greeting at all regardless of size. In the park, he drank out of the water fountain, standing with his paws on the rim and lapping up the water. So cute! Off leash in the backyard Kong explores a bit, puts his head in my lap for petting and then lay down froggy style (love that!!) at my feet. Kong is a proven family dog, well taken care of, social, lovely and easy to spend time with. We’re rooting for him to find a new person or family to take care of as it’s clear that’s where he belongs. Let’s give our boy his new beginning today.
