03/18/15 10:07 NAME Kobe REASON FOR SURRENDER Client has a grandchild who has severe allergies. She is afraid that he will keep having reactions due to Kobe living in the same place. RELATIONSHIP Kobe was given to client as a gift from her son. He owns the mother and father of Kobe. Kobe is currently 3 years old. PEOPLE Kobe lives in a home with adults and children. Around children he is usually relaxed and playful, and when he plays with them, he is usually gentle. He usually isn’t bothered by strangers who approach his house or his family. He has never bitten anyone. OTHER ANIMALS Kobe has never lived nor interacted with any cats or dogs so his behavior around them is unknown. PERSONALITY/HABITS Kobe is a high active mostly indoor dog who enjoys going for fast paced walks outside. He has also been described as playful, affectionate, mellow, shy, gentle, and friendly. He enjoys playing chase and fetch, and his favorite toys are balls and stuffed and squeaky toys.He isn’t bothered if you touch his food bowl while he is eating, or if you take away a treat or a toy. He also isn’t bothered if you give him a bath, trim his nails, brush him, move him off the furniture, hold or restrain him, or disturb him while he is sleeping. He tends to follow you around or be in the same room as you when you are home. He eats Puppy Chow wet and dry food. He usually sleeps in the home wherever he is most comfortable. TRAINING Kobe hasn’t received much training, but he does know “sit.” He is succesfully housebroken and never makes any mistakes indoors. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Upon intake Kobe was very energetic and warm welcoming. He allowed to be rubbed, collared, and slip leashed by an admissions counselor. Dog scanned negative for a microchip.

Kobe previously lived with adults and children, and when around children he was reported to be relaxed and playful, and when he plays with them, he is usually gentle. Kobe was also said to get along well with strangers. The owner stated Kobe has a high activity level, and has been described as playful, affectionate, mellow, shy, gentle, and friendly. It was also mentioned that Kobe hasn’t received much training, but he is successfully housebroken and never makes any mistakes indoors. During intake Kobe was reported to be very energetic, but was sociable and allowed all handling and collaring by an admissions counselor. During SAFER Kobe was very energetic and more interested in his surroundings. He allowed the assessor to conduct each handling item without issue, but became easily over aroused during the tag item, and mouthed the leash with stiff body language. Kobe also became stiff and growled when being pushed out of the food bowl during the food item, but only showed minimal interest in the toys and rawhides. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog responds with his tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, body stiff and mouths the leash. Dog is often focused on other stimuli in the room. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Dog licks hand. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Kobe is tolerant and good when greeting a female but is sexually motivated.

When off leash with other dogs, Kobe is tolerant and good when greeting a female but is sexually motivated. 3/24 Update Continues to do well with males and females, he is a bit sexually motivated but it easily distracted. 3/25 Update Kobe does well with other dogs but is not interested in engaging. 3/26 Update Kobe continues to do well around other dogs. 3/28 Update Kobe continues to be tolerant around other dogs but does not engage beyond beyond the initial interaction.
