06/12/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/12/15 19:45 Knight was brought here by one of his neighbors. He saw his owners on their way out of their building. They had bred him and sold his puppies and did not want him anymore. The neighbor brought him here has spent time with him outside. He reports that he’s friendly with all people including strangers. He lived with a child. He played with the neighbor/finder’s large female dog. He says that Knight plays exuberantly with other dogs. He potties while outside but the neighbor thinks that he wasn’t walked enough and had to potty inside sometimes. His finder walked him here which took 1 hour. He didn’t pull on his leash at all. His finder describes him as friendly and playful. He cuddles, gives kisses, and enjoys belly rubs. Knight had a loose, wiggly body, wagging tail, and open mouth during handling-scan (-), collar, petting, switching leashes, positioning for pictures. He cuddled into my lap when I stooped down and rolled onto his back while I rubbed his tummy. He licked me. He didn’t pull on his leash. He allowed us to pick him up and put him in a kennel.
06/17/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: So handsome in his dark brown coat with bronze threads throughout, Knight was a lovely companion with whom to spend some time. Likely housetrained, he peed forever the moment we were out the door, and we head to the park. His leash manners are lovely; walking with him is so easy it really gave me time to appreciate how good looking he is. His weight his perfect for his size, and when the sun shines on him you’ll need your sunglasses to shield your eyes from his healthy glow. Wanting to meet all the dogs we passed, Knight seems to love other dogs and is a polite greeter in play groups, interested in other dogs but not immediately playful as of this writing. Off leash in a pen he comes when I call him, putting his head in my lap for some petting, and when I give him a good butt scratch he does the ‘butt scratch shuffle’ — too cute! Playing fetch is a fun game and Knight retrieves and brings it almost to my feet for another throw. Compact, low key, affectionate and easy, Knight is looking for his new family. Once inside, we ran into a staff person Knight knows and Knight made it known how happy he was to see him and get a hug. In the Middle Ages a person was given the honorary title of Knight for exemplary service to his people… our Knight is ready to show you how it’s done in 2015. He’s hoping to start his happily ever after with you, today.
06/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Knight came to our center when he was brought in by a neighbor. It is reported he lived with children and other dogs. Knight had a loose, wiggly body and wagging tail during intake, allowing all handling. He does not pull on leash. Knight allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands for Look item, eyes averted. He licked his lips with soft body during Sensitivity item, accepting the touch. Knight played appropriately during Tag game, jumping on assessor playfully at the end, and settling instantly at end of game. He did not pull his paw back during both Squeeze attempts. Knight calmly allowed the Food dish to be moved and lifted his head out of the bowl when assess-a-hand was applied to his cheek. He playfully engaged with Toy, keeping a firm grip and loose, wiggly body. Knight had no interest in Rawhide. He greets other dogs appropriately during off leash social time. The Behavior Team feels Knight would do well in an Average home and would make a lovely family pet. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body neutral, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip lick. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game, indicates play with soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog might jump on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not pull his paw back. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Knight greets the other dog appropriately, becomes sexually motivated but takes correction well.
