12/05/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
King previously lived with 3 adults and 1 child. The owner stated King loves to play and is also very active with high energy. The owner mentioned King is house broken. During SAFER King came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. King joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment King was easy to handle when engaged with the items. King appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, King is forward when greeting and attempts to engage in play but seems to lack the proper skills so he is pushy and obnoxious when playing. He may also become sexually motivated.
12/04/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
King engages in rough play and is energetic and pushy when playing. He is uncomfortable with very energetic males and may attempt to mount some dogs. Based on his behavior during playgroup, the Behavior Department recommends that King can go to a home with female dogs and may be placed with a male dog but we recommend that a pre-adoption interaction be required. He seems to do well with other playful dogs so we recommend placing him with tolerant, playful dogs. When off leash with other dogs, King is forward when greeting and attempts to engage in play but seems to lack the proper skills so he is pushy and obnoxious when playing. He may also become sexually motivated. 12/5 update: King is forward and engages in rough play with playful females. He is pushy when playing and eventually becomes sexually motivated and continues to attempt to mount after correction. 12/8 update: King engages in rough play with playful females. He is energetic and pushy when playing. When a very energetic male is introduced, he becomes uncomfortable and offers strong correction. 12/9 update: King engages in rough play with other playful males. He is energetic and pushy when playing. He became aroused when another dog stepped on him when he was on the ground and was slow to de-escalate. 12/10 update: King engages in rough, energetic play with another playful male. He can be pushy while playing.
