11/04/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
King previously lived with 2 adults and has been around 2 children. The owner stated King is described as gentle and relaxed around children, he will lay still and allow the kids to pet him and around other dogs and cats he is tolerant but doesn’t engage in play. The owner mentioned King is housetrained, has a high activity level and well behaved when home alone. It was reported by the owner when a toy is taken away King will attempt to get it back and will jump and playfully nip, but never punctured the skin. At intake it was reported King was calm, but when attempting to collar him he became tense, tail tucked with his ears back. The counselor attempted to give him treats, he nipped at the counselor, and no handling was conducted at the moment. During SAFER King came into the assessment room anxious and panting, he was social and consistently jump on to the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. King was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment on toy item King freezes when attempting to remove the item away. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner King can be rough with play with toys and also his behavior during his intake process, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense, mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1.
