07/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kikos’s previous owner notes that she “does not do well with small dogs.” We have limited behavior on the context or behaviors demonstrated, but due to this report we recommend a home without small dogs, cats, or other small pets. Kikos has interacted with other larger dogs in playgroup without issue, though we always recommend a slow introduction to other dogs. The behavior department recommends an experienced adopter for Kikos. 6/18 SAFER: Kikos’ owner states she has been around children ages 5 years old and older, and was reported to be friendly and exuberant during play with them. She was said to have a high activity level and friendly towards strangers that approached her family. The owner states Kikos is house trained and does well in her crate for 2-3 hours. it was also noted that Kikos is not bother if someone takes away or touches her food bowl, and she is friendly when a toy is taken away. At intake it was noted that Kikos was very excited and approached the counselor with a very loose body and waging tail. During SAFER Kikos was very sociable and attention seeking. She allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue, and had a low but soft body during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Kikos was a bit resistant when pushed out of the food bowl, but her body was soft and with a bit of pressure she lifted her head and allowed the assessor to remove the food. When engaged with the toys and rawhide items kikos had a loose and wiggly body and relinquished both toy and rawhide to the assessor. Kikos appears to be very sociable and has not shown any behavioral concerns while in the care center. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low but soft Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with her tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Rawhide: 1.
