06/20/15 12:54 Basic information Kiara is a tan female Siberian husky pitbull mix who is 8 months old that is being surrendered because the family wants her to have a better home. Kiara has been with the family since she was 2 months old. Social life and personality Kiara lived with 1 adult and 1 child and is reported to be affectionate to the child and tolerant of other children. Kiara has not been exposed to cats but is reported to be receptive to dogs she meets during her walks and does well off leash with other dogs. When strangers approach she exuberantly bypass introduction. Behavior Kiara will struggle for a bath and has not had her nails trimmed. Kiara does not guard who food toys or treats. Kiara does not being held. For a new family to know Kiara knows the command sit and is responsive to guidance. Kiara is a growing puppy that can be destructive with her toys especially Teddy bears. She also knows the game fetch. When the family is home she likes to be where they are. Kiara eats dry food. Upon intake Kiara was very still and shy for introduction. Kiara was very timid for handling and moved away when touched but was not defensive. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photographed but moved slow for this. Kiara walked well on leash and is responsive to guidance. Kiara is loose and curious when she is given space and allowed to socialize on her own terms.

Helper dog: A1040354 Kiara previously lived with 1 adult and 1 child. The owner stated Kiara is reported to be affectionate to the child and tolerant of other children. The owner mentioned Kiara understands the command sit and is responsive to guidance. It was reported Kiara was shy, timid, and very still. It was also mentioned Kiara was loose and curious when she is given space and allowed to socialize on her own terms upon intake. During SAFER Kiara was social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Kiara was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Kiara was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Kiara appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for a “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.

When off leash with other dogs, Kiara is selective but generally tolerant. She may overreact when interacting with more forward dogs. She explores the yard. 6/26 update: Kiara is anxious while interacting and will offer appropriate correction. 6/27 update: Kiara may engage in running play but gets overwhelmed by more assertive dogs. 6/30 Update Kiara continues to be tolerant but uninterested in play.
