A volunteer writes:
Wanna meet a bright, perky, beautiful doggie, with a charming personality, and good looks to go with her overall disposition and natural abilities? … Well Brooklyn surely, is the right dog for you. In the kennel itself, Brooklyn acted a tad over the top, leaping like a kangaroo at my site, but as soon as I took her out, she was attentive and wanting to walk calmly, even non-effected by all of the activity around her. It was so much fun walking this mid-size dog, she knew just where to do her business, letting on that she is house trained. She seems to be in good spirits at the sight of other dogs and hardly pulled at all when we walked. When we stopped, Brooklyn loved to be scratched, having a soft coat, beautiful coat, with very attractive markings, a dog you’ll surely be proud of walking by your side, and give back affection … nuzzle up, give those wonderful doggie licks … She’s up front and center with those habits. Brooklyn also knows “Sit”, “Good, good doggie”. With these thoughts in mind won’t you please come into our Brooklyn Care Center today and meet with Brooklyn, for sure, she’d love nothing more than meeting and coming home with you, becoming your dog and companion for the rest of her life. Adoption and sharing your life with an animal is a miraculous experience, one that can’t be gotten any other way … It’s something that’s heart felt and unique … It’s real and you can make it happen. Wont you come in and see that all I say is true. Open your heart and mind … Make that difference … For you, your family and most of all for this beautiful animal in need … Brooklyn is ready to be that miracle, come in and do

05/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Brooklyn came into the care center as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. She was reported to be sociable and tolerant of all handling during intake as well as her medical exam. During SAFER Brooklyn was very sociable towards the assessor and was attention seeking. She maintained a loose body posture during all of the handling items, and was playful during the tag interaction. Brooklyn was easy to handle when engaged with food item, and when engaged with the toys and rawhides, she had a loose body posture and held a firm grip, but did not relinquish the items. No behavior concerns were seen at the time of the assessment, so the department feels Brooklyn can be suitable for an “Average” experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push her out. Toy: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is between you and the toy, and she is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is between you and the rawhide, and she is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Brooklyn is friendly and social and offers a play bow to another dog.
