SAFER: AVERAGE HOME
Katie Lady came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have any information on her past behaviors in a home. At intake it was noted that she was calm and relaxed, and allowed all handling by a counselor. During SAFER Katie Lady was not very attention seeking, but maintained a relaxed body posture when interacting with the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue, and was a bit fearful during the tag interaction, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. During the resources portion of the assessment Katie Lady was a bit stiff and did not lift her head when pushed out of the food bowl, but did not escalate to growling or snapping. She only showed minimal interest in the toy items, and was not interested in the rawhides. Katie Lady appears to be social, but can be shy. The department feels Katie Lady can be suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience, and it is recommended that introductions are done slowly and Katie Lady should be given the opportunity to interact at her own pace.
