BASIC INFO
Katara’s family purchased her from a breeder when she was a puppy about 2.5 years ago. They surrendered her due to landlord conflict, cost, and lack of time. Katara had a litter of puppies 1 year ago. Since then, she’s lactated twice, including now. Her owner thinks this is because she (the owner) is pregnant.
SOCIALIZATION
Katara is friendly/outgoing with strangers. She lived with a 7-10 year old autistic child and has spent time with smaller children and babies. She’s relaxed, playful, and tolerant with children and very gentle with babies. The child in her home becomes uncomfortable when approached, so Katara learned not to approach him, but to wait and allow him to approach her. She’s affectionate and gentle with him. She plays gently with people. She lived with 4 other dogs-small, large, male, and female. She also met dogs on walks andplayed at the dog park. She’s relaxed, playful, tolerant, and plays gently with all other dogs. She was relaxed, tolerant, and gentle with kittens that visited. She’s never bit anyone.
BEHAVIOR
Katara doesn’t mind storms. She’s friendly with strangers that approach her home/family. She doesn’t mind when someone takes her food/treat/toy, moves her off furniture, holds/restrains her, wakes her up, bathes her, or brushes her.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Katara’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, medium energy, and the perfect lap dog. Katara follows her family around and likes to play chase. She lived inside and slept in her crate (always open). She ate dry and wet Beneful food and got venison and chicken as a treat. She’s housetrained, doesn’t have accidents, and potties on cement. She’s well-behaved when home alone. She was crated when she was younger but doesn’t need to be anymore. She knows sit and lay down. She went for slow and brisk walks and played off-leash at the park and dog park for exercise. She doesn’t pull on her leash and stays close to her owner while off her leash.
INTAKE
Katara had a loose, wiggly body, open mouth, and wagging tail during intake and handling-scan (-), collar, petting, switching leashes, positioning for pictures, and putting into a kennel. She approached us, jumped up and gently leaned against us, and licked us.
