07/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kane came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have any information on his past behaviors in a home. At intake it was noted that Kane was excitable and very sociable towards the counselors. During SAFER Kane was also very sociable and attention seeking. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue, and was a distracted by objects in the room during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Kane became stiff and could not be pushed out of the food bowl but did not escalate to growling or snapping, and he was not interested in the toys or rawhides. Kane appears to be very sociable, but he did show some concerns on the food item, so the department feels Kane will likely do best with an experienced adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needed coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 3. Dog follows the dish, his tail is down, ears are forward. His body is stiff. Dog does not lift his head from the bowl when hand is applied to his cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: Off leash Kane greets appropriately and is high energy.
