06/17/15 15:06 Basic Information Junior is a 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier that was bred inside of his prior home. His owner was forced to downsize and moved from a home to a renting situation which had a no pet policy. Client chose AC&C as a last resort for placement . Socialization Around strangers, Junior is very hyper and playful. He barks when seeking atention. He plays gently and exuberantly with adults and children. Client has a 2 year old daughter and he stated Junior is always relaxed and affectionate with her. He has been around other dogs. He used to live with his 2yr old (littermate) brother and his mom (Princess A1040438). Client stated that they all co exsisted well, sharing same living quaters. Behavior Client stated that Junior is well behaved and non reactive to anything. Client stated he enjoys such things as taking a bath, being brushed, and trimming his nails. Client stated he is not bothered by having his food bowl touched while eting, take his toys, nor held or restrained etc. For a new family to know The owner describes Junior as playful, affectionate, independent, and friendly. He is very talkative and has a high activity level. His favorite activity is running and going on brisk walks. Around the house, he follows everyone around and wants to play. He doesn’t play with toys much, but likes interacting with kids. He sleeps in his crate in the living room. He was being fed Purina, or Blue Buffalo dry food. Behavior during the intake During the intake Junior was very friendly and active. He allowed to be rubbed and collared by an admissions counselor. Junior scanned negative for a microchip.

06/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

Junior previously lived with one adult and a 2 year old child. The owner stated Junior is very hyper and playful around strangers, Junior is also relax and affectionate around the 2 year old child. The owner mentioned that Junior is well behaved at home when he’s alone. The owner describes Junior as playful, affectionate, independent, and friendly; he is very talkative and has a high activity level. It was reported Junior was very friendly, active and like to be rubbed upon intake. During SAFER Junior had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Junior was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Junior was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Junior showed some discomfort during dog to dog interaction so the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an “experience” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, tail wagging, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is wagging with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, but bit distracted. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Junior greets the helper dog at the gate with a stiff, frozen body, so he is muzzled. Once introduced he continues to exhibit this behavior and eventually begins to growl when the helper dog continues to sniff him. 6/25 Update Junior is muzzled due to previous off leash behavior. He does not engage in play and is defensive when other dogs get in close proximity to him.
