JUNGLE – A1032598
Gone 4-17-2015 Manhattan
***NEEDS SOMEONE TO TRUST***A volunteer writes: Jungle’s looong, serious face watches me warily from her den and I can’t help thinking of the old joke about a horse walking into a bar, being asked ‘Why the long face?’ and responding ‘Evolution’…just what mystery breeds contributed to her family tree to produce such an unusually beautiful dog? Though Jungle starts our date very timid and hand-shy (I have to bribe her with treats before I’m allowed to add a flowery lei), she slowly warms to my touch and is soon coming when called, following me around the yard and letting me gently pet her head and side. She’s emaciated and being fed an extra meal each day to help her gain much-needed weight but still sits ever so patiently to wait for her treats before softly licking them from my fingers. I assume this is the most fun my shy, quiet companion and I are going to have so it’s almost as an afterthought that I pick up a tennis ball…and instantly Jungle’s eyes light up as she scoots back to eagerly await my throw! Just like that she’s magically transformed from a demure wallflower into a star athlete, keenly dashing after the ball again and again and trotting around with it proudly held in her mouth. It seems the key to Jungle’s heart is small, round and covered in fuzzy yellow fur! What this superstar in waiting needs is a quiet yet active home where she can find her bearings on her own time, a place of love and care to help her forget the past and learn to trust again. It’s a delicate balance but if you’ve got the heart (and the throwing arm) to help gorgeous Jungle find the happy ending she deserves then don’t delay, ask to meet her today!
