PERSONALITY She is a very active mostly indoor dog who has been described as playful, excitable, affectionate, pushy, confident, and friendly. She loves playing with bones and stuffed toys, though she chews through them pretty quickly. Tug is her favorite game. She is friendly if you touch her food bowl while she is eating, when you brush her, if you hold or restrain her, and if you disturb her while she is sleeping. She is either playful or not bothered if you take away a treat or a toy. She is nervous at first during baths, but soon is excited to play in the water and often tries to eat the soap. She isn’t bothered during storms or fireworks. She likes to follow her family around, stay in a favorite spot, or be in the same room as his family when they are home. She eats Pedigree dry food. She prefers to go to the bathroom on the cement. She usually sleeps on the floor. TRAINING She is learning sit and paw. When left home alone, she sometimes chews on the wall and items that are nearby. She does pull when she gets excited. Owner does not suggest walking her without a leash. She is house-trained and rarely has accidents. She is walked or taken to the park 2 times a day. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE She was very friendly and energetic. She had a soft wiggly body and tail. She jumped up onto everyone who passed and gave plenty hugs and kisses. She allowed handling and showed no signs of aggression.
06/25/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: June spells LIFE!!!! Exactly one year of age, hence her lovely name…June excels at doing all what a happy living creature does, beside the basic functions…I mean…having fun, meeting new people, new dogs, playing tag, tug of war and with a ball, obeying orders that make sense(like sitting for a treat), rolling on her back for belly rubs and always harboring the hugest smile on her face. Let’s not forget the eyes, glittery and permanently on the look for more adventures to be part of. Watch her in playgroups with other pooches..She is having a ball, with boys and girls, running, jumping, mingling…June is on happy camper. I do not think I can match this type of activity in her mind. I am so wrong…June says..one is a crowd….Let’s enjoy our time together! She comes when called, hops on the bench next to me, spreads on my lap with her four in the air, kisses, fetch a ball right in my hand, chase the birds..June really knows what it is to enjoy the moment and forget all about the rest..So many of us have forgotten to think that way , like a child…June was relinquished into our care as she was too energetic for her family lifestyle. She comes with excellent comments, though, like being great with kids and other dogs, being house trained, very affectionate and having no handling issues. June needs an active owner or family, things to do, a place to run, may be…This is not asking for the moon…She is all worth it..If you fit the bill and would love an energetic, happy go lucky forever companion, June is the dog for you… She is waiting, full of hope, at the Manhattan Care Center.
