A volunteer writes: I had heard from the other volunteers that Julio was a great dog, one even went as far as to say he was a “5 star dog” a huge compliment coming from this particular volunteer. So I set the bar pretty high for Julio and I have to say he didn’t disappoint!!!! He is funny, affectionate, playful and obedient!!! Oh and I forgot haaannndddsoooommme. Julio is 18 months old and still puppyish which makes him simply irresistible. Come see for yourself, he’s at SIACC and waiting.
11/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Julio came into our center as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. Upon intake, he was very friendly and allowed all handling. Julio did not pull on leash for his relief walk, but jumped up on handler playfully multiple times. He held gaze for three full seconds during Look item, tail wagging. Julio stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, body soft, whining. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, jumped up playfully on assessor at end of game. He did not pull his paw back on Squeeze item, tail wag. Julio had minimal interest in Toy, sniffing before turning away. He approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, tail above spine level, body not stiff. Julio was a bit difficult to return to his kennel, hesitant to enter. The Behavior Team feels Julio would do well in an Average home, but may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners including not to jump up. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, whining, mouth closed, ears back. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, jumps lightly at end. Squeeze 1/2: 1.
